Chiral Dynamics 2006

Plenary Program

This workshop is the 5th in the series which started in 1994 at M.I.T. The previous workshops have been held at Mainz (1997), JLab (2000), and Bonn (2003). The 5th workshop will take place September 18th through the 22nd, 2006. The workshop will be hosted by Duke University (in association with Triangle Universities Nuclear Laboratory, TUNL). The purpose of this workshop series is to bring physicists together who are active in this field, as well as those who are interested, to discuss and debate the most recent and future developments in various topics related to the study of Chiral Dynamics. The workshop traditionally draws a near equal contribution from theorists and experimentalists.

Chiral Dynamics

The chiral symmetry present in the QCD Lagrangian along with Goldstone's theorem makes is possible to obtain an approximate QCD solution at low energies using an effective field theory known as chiral perturbation theory (ChPT) or Chiral Dynamics. Topics which will be discussed at this workshop are : Goldstone Boson Dynamics, Hadron Structure and Meson-Baryon Interactions, Few-Body Physics, and Lattice QCD and Chiral Perturbation Theory. In addition to the plenary talks, these topics will be the focus of three different working groups.
