Research Associate Position in Experimental Nuclear Physics at TUNL/Duke University

The Department of Physics at Duke University and Triangle Universities Nuclear Laboratory (TUNL) seek a postdoctoral Research Associate with strong interest and experience in nuclear structure and nuclear reaction studies using neutron and gamma-ray beams. TUNL produces the world's most intense and highly polarized monoenergetic pulsed neutron beams in the low-energy regime. Key instruments for this research include the TUNL High-Intensity Gamma-ray Source (HIGS), a tandem Van de Graaff accelerator and an array of HPGe planar and segmented clover detectors. The group is currently involved in application motivated research activities derived from basic research in nuclear science. Other important components of our research program are studies in nuclear structure and nuclear astrophysics using the quasi-monoenergetic gamma-ray beams at the HIGS facility. More details can be found at http://www.tunl.duke.edu/groups/nnsa. This research is funded by DOE's Office of Nuclear Physics and by the National Nuclear Security Administration. Applicants should submit a curriculum vitae, a brief statement of present research activities, and should have three letters of recommendation mailed to:

Research Associate Position in Nuclear Physics.

The Department of Physics and Astronomy at the University of North Carolina invites applications for Research Associate position in experimental nuclear physics. The successful candidate must have a Ph.D. in nuclear physics and is expected to conduct a major part of his/her research at the Triangle Universities Nuclear Laboratory (TUNL) which is an internationally recognized center for nuclear physics that is staffed by faculty from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Duke U. and North Carolina State U. More details about TUNL may be found at http://www.tunl.duke.edu. We are particularly interested in identifying individuals with strong interest in applications of nuclear physics.

Applications should be submitted to nuclear-search-2008@physics.unc.edu as PDF format attachments. If necessary, hard copy versions may be addressed to Nuclear Physics Search, c/o Ms. Cassandra Houston, CB# 3255, Dept. of Physics & Astronomy, UNC Chapel Hill, NC 27599-3255. Required materials are a curriculum vitae, a brief statement of research interests and three letters of recommendation to be send directly to the Search Committee.

Applications completed before August 15th, 2008 will receive full consideration. Further information about this position can be obtained by contacting Prof. H.J. Karwowski at khugon@physics.unc.edu.

Research Associate Position in Experimental Low-Energy Nuclear Physics

The Triangle Universities Nuclear Laboratory (TUNL) seeks a postdoctoral Research Associate with strong interest and experience in one or more of the following subfields: neutrino physics and double-beta decay, few-body physics, nuclear structure and reaction physics, and nuclear physics for the benefit of society. The successful candidate will join a group that is carrying out experiments at TUNL with multi-MeV monoenergetic neutron beams and with quasi-monenergetic gamma-ray beams at the High-Intensity Gamma-ray Source (HIGS) located behind the TUNL building on the Duke University Campus. Currently, the group is also involved in the KamLAND and Majorana projects. In addition, we are running a local double-beta decay effort. Our research is funded by DOE's Office of Nuclear Physics and by the National Nuclear Security Administration. Interested parties should send a CV and three letters of recommendation to
