15C (86AJ01)(See Energy Level Diagrams for 15C) GENERAL: See also (81AJ01) and Table 15.1 [Table of Energy Levels] (in PDF or PS) here. Model calculations:(AN83D, VA84). Electromagnetic transitions:(RI80D). Complex reactions involving 15C:(GR81B, BE83C, EN83A, FR83G, HO83C, MA83, OL83, WI83H, HI84, HO84L). Pion capture and reactions:(OS81A). Hypernuclei:(WA81D, KA82T, DO83I, FE83A, KO83IM, AS84D). Other topics:(PO84E). Ground state of 15C:(FR84D).
The half-life of 15C is 2.449 ± 0.005 sec (AL79M). Transitions have been observed to 15Ng.s. and to the upper of the 5.3 MeV states in 15N which has Jπ = 1/2+. Therefore Jπ (15Cg.s.) = 1/2+ or 3/2+. Weak transitions are observed to 15N*(7.30, 8.31, 8.57, 9.05) (AL79M): see Table 15.15 (in PDF or PS). The shape of the 15Cg.s. --> 15Ng.s. transition differs appreciably from an allowed shape (WA84). See also (FR81N), (SN83A) and (RI80D; theor.).
Observed proton groups are displayed in Table 15.2 (in PDF or PS).
Observed proton groups are displayed in Table 15.3 (in PDF or PS) (TR83H). |g| = 0.703 ± 0.012 for 15C*(0.74) (AS80B).
At Eα = 65 MeV 15C*(0.74, 6.74, 7.35) are strongly populated: see (81AJ01).
σγ < 1 μb (MU81G). See also (76AJ04).
Observed proton groups are displayed in Table 15.2 (in PDF or PS).
Radiative pion capture shows evidence for Jπ = 5/2+,
T = 3/2 giant magnetic quadrupole states: transitions are
reported to 15C*(0.74) as well as to 15C*(6.7, 8.6, 12.0)
(ST83E).
