Mass of 16C: The atomic mass excess of 16C based on the 14C(t, p) Q0 measurements of (FO77D, SE78A) and on the (WA77) masses for 14C, t and p is 13694 ± 4 keV.

1. 16C(β-)16N Qm = 8.012

The half-life of 16C is 0.747 ± 0.008 sec: it decays to 16N*(3.34, 4.32) [both Jπ = 1+] with branchings of 84% and 16% respectively [log ft = 3.55, 3.83]; see Table 16.2 (in PDF or PS) (AL76). See also (FO78G).

2. 14C(t, p)16C Qm = -3.013
Q0 = -3015 ± 8 keV (FO77D);
Q0 = -3013 ± 4 keV (SE78A).

Observed proton groups are displayed in Table 16.3 (in PDF or PS) (FO77D, SE78A), together with the angular correlation results of (BA77QQ). The similarities in the spectra of 14C and 16C are discussed by (FO78F, SE78A). See also (FO77G, FO78G).
