16Ne (71AJ02)(See the Isobar Diagram for 16Ne)
16Ne has not been observed. The isobaric multiplet mass equation predicts
M - A = 25.15 ± 0.6 MeV (CE68A: 16Ne is then unbound with respect to
breakup into 14O + 2p by 2.6 MeV. See also (GO60K, GO60P, BA61F, GO61N, GO62N, GO62O, GA64A, JA65C, KE66C). A search has been
made for the two-proton decay of 16Ne in the bombardment of nickel by 150 MeV
20Ne ions: the cross section is either < / = 1.8
μb (if Epp > 1 MeV and τ(16Ne) >/= 10-8 sec), or else τ(16Ne) < 10-8 sec (KA64E). See also (GO65I, GO66J, LE66E, WA70E).
