¹⁷B has been observed in the 4.8 GeV proton bombardment of uranium: it is particle stable and its ground state J^π is probably 3/2^- (BO74A). Its atomic mass excess is estimated by (WA85C) to be 44.01 ± 0.70 MeV. It is then stable with respect to decay into ¹⁵B + 2n by 1.10 MeV. E_β^-(max) for the decay to ¹⁷C_g.s. would then be 22.98 MeV.
