17Ne (77AJ02)(See the Isobar Diagram for 17Ne) GENERAL: See also (71AJ02) and Table 17.20 [Table of Energy Levels] (in PDF or PS). Theory and reviews: (HA71BB, HA73J, RE73G, BE75Q). Mass of 17Ne: The mass excess of 17Ne, determined from a measurement of the Q-value of 20Ne(3He, 6He)17Ne is 16.48 ± 0.05 MeV (ME70E, CE72). Then 17Ne - 17F = 14.53 MeV and Eb for p, 3He and α are, respectively, 1.50, 6.46 and 9.05 MeV. See also (71AJ02).
The half-life of 17Ne is 109.0 ± 1.0 msec (HA71B). Earlier values (see (71AJ02)) gave a mean value of 108.0 ± 2.7 msec. The decay is primarily to the proton unstable states of 17F at 4.70, 5.52 and 6.04 MeV with Jπ = 3/2-, 3/2- and 1/2-, respectively: see Table 17.21 (in PDF or PS). The super-allowed decay to the analog state [17F*(11.20)] has log ft = 3.29+0.04-0.07. The character of the decay leads to Jπ = 1/2- for 17Neg.s. (HA71B). See Table 17.3 (in PDF or PS) for a comparison of the mirror 17N and 17Ne decays (AL76) and Table 17.11 (in PDF or PS) for the decay of 17F*(11.20). See also (HO71B, TO72; theor.).
At E(6He) = 62.6 MeV, 6He groups are observed to 17Ne*(0,
1.35, 1.84, 2.77, 3.70, 5.28) [from Fig. 3 in (CE72)]. See also (WO70B).
