18N (87AJ02)(See the Isobar Diagram for 18N) GENERAL: See (83AJ01) and Table 18.2 [Table of Energy Levels] (in PDF or PS). See (NA81H, AN83D, FR83G, SH83DD, WI83H, AS84D, HI84, AN86U, BI86F, HA86BB, MA86CC, ME86C, RI87B). Mass of 18N:The atomic mass excess derived from the Q-value of the 18O(7Li, 7Be)18N reaction is 13.117 ± 0.020 MeV (PU83). 18N is then stable with respect to breakup into 17N + n by 2.825 MeV. See (83AJ01) for the earlier work.
The half-life of 18N is 0.624 ± 0.012 sec (OL82). The decay branches are displayed in Table 18.9 (in PDF or PS). The nature of the decay leads to Jπ = 1- for the 18N ground state (OL82). See also (SN83A).
The work described in (83AJ01) has not been published.
At E(18O) = 92.2 MeV groups are observed to the ground state of 18N (unresolved) and to an excited state at Ex = 575 ± 25 keV (NA80).
See (83AJ01).
At E(7Li) = 52 MeV, 7Be groups are observed corresponding to the excitation of the states displayed in Table 18.2 (in PDF or PS) (PU83).
See (PU83).
