Mass of 9Li: From the Q-value of 18O(7Li, 16O)9Li, the atomic mass excess of 9Li is 24.9654 ± 0.005 MeV (NE69D; prelim. results). (WA71M) adopt 24.966 ± 0.005 MeV. We use the latter value.
The half-life of 9Li is 172 ± 3 msec [see (66LA04)], 176 ± 1 msec (DO65D), 177 ± 3 msec (CH70, CH70W). We adopt τ1/2 = 176 ± 2 msec. See also (BO68M). 9Li decays to 9Be*(0, 2.43, 2.78): see 9Be and Table 9.7 (in PDF or PS) (CH70, CH70W). See also (AL63F, MA69H). Log ft values are listed in Table 9.7 (in PDF or PS): the allowed nature of the transitions to 9Be*(0, 2.43, 2.78) with Jπ = 3/2-, 5/2- and (1/2-) is evidence for Jπ = 3/2 for 9Li(0) (CH70). Eβ-(max) have been measured by (AL63F, NE63C, KL69B). Delayed neutrons are observed due to the decay of the neutron unbound states 9Be*(2.43, 2.78): see 9Be. See also (BA66A, BA66T, DA70K, LI71G, WI71K, WI72I, WI72L, HA73M, TO73F, WI73D; theor.).
Proton groups are observed to excited states at Ex = 2.691 ± 0.005 MeV (MI64E), 4.31 ± 0.03, 5.38 ± 0.06 and 6.41 ± 0.02 MeV (YO71B) [Γcm = 250 ± 30, 600 ± 100, < 100 keV, respectively]. Angular distributions are reported at Et = 11.3 MeV (MI64E; t0) and 15 MeV (YO71B; t0, t2, t4). The angular distributions to 9Li(0) are consistent with Jπ = 3/2- and the relative magnitude of the cross section to 9Li*(2.69) is consistent with Jπ = 1/2-: see (MI64E, YO71B).
