Mass of ⁹Li: The atomic mass excess of ⁹Li is determined to be 24955.4 ± 2.0 keV from the Q-values of the ⁷Li(t, p) and ¹⁰Be(d, ³He) reactions. This value leads to a cubic coefficient in the IMME for A = 9 of d = 5.8 ± 1.5 keV for the ground state; d = 2.3 ± 2.9 keV for the second T = 3/2 state in A = 9 (KA75C).

1. 9Li(β-)9Be

Qm = 13.607

The half-life of ⁹Li is 178.3 ± 0.4 msec (AL76). Other recent values are 175 ± 1 msec (AU73I), 175 ± 1 msec (RO74R). In (74AJ01) the adopted value was 176 ± 2 msec based on earlier measurements. ⁹Li decays to ⁹Be*(0, 2.43, 2.78): see ⁹Be and Table 9.7 (in PDF or PS) (CH70). log ft values are listed in Table 9.6 (in PDF or PS): the nature of the transitions to ⁹Be*(0, 2.43, 2.78) with J^π = 3/2^-, 5/2^- and (1/2^-) is evidence for J^π = 3/2^- for ⁹Li_g.s. (CH70). Delayed neutrons are observed due to the decay of the two excited states of ⁹Be involved in the β^- decay: see ⁹Be. 2. 7Li(t, p)9Li

Qm = -2.386

Protons are observed to excited states at E_x = 2.691 ± 0.005 MeV (MI64E), 4.31 ± 0.03, 5.38 ± 0.06 and 6.41 ± 0.02 MeV (YO71B) [Γ_c.m. = 250 ± 30, 600 ± 100, < 100 keV], 4.31 ± 0.02 and 6.435 ± 0.020 MeV (AJ78A) [Γ_c.m. = 100 ± 30, 40 ± 20 keV]. Angular distributions are reported at E_t = 11.3 (MI64E: t₀), 15 MeV (YO71B: t₀, t₂, t₄) and at 23 MeV (AJ78A: t₀, t₁, t₂, t₄). They are consistent with J^π = 3/2^-, (1/2^-) and >/= 9/2 for ⁹Li*(0, 2.69, 6.43) (AJ78A). See also (74AJ01). For the mass of ⁹Li see the "GENERAL" section here (KA75C). See also (HA76A).

3. 9Be(π-, γ)9Li

Qm = 125.960

The excitation of ⁹Li*(0, 2.69) is observed: see (BA77XX).

At E(⁶Li) = 80 MeV the angular distribution to ⁹Li_g.s. has been measured. States at E_x = 2.59 ± 0.10, 4.36 ± 0.10 and 6.38 ± 0.12 MeV are also populated (WE77A, WE77). See also (CE74B).
