Neutron Polarizabilities Via Deuteron Compton Scattering At MAX-lab
Nucleon polarizability measurements using Compton scattering have become increasingly common in recent years due to improved theoretical calculations and the development of accelerators capable of producing continuous, high-intensity, tagged photon beams. While proton polarizabilities have been accurately determined via these methods, the situation for the neutron is still unsettled. The current world data set is lacking in sufficient kinematic coverage and statistical precision. This talk will cover the issues associated with determining the polarizabilities from deuteron Compton scattering and present the program and early results from the Compton@MAX-lab collaboration.
