Parking Directions and Map

The Duke University campus map shows the Duke Physics Building on Science Drive behind Duke Chapel. The former 4 MeV Van de Graaff accelerator laboratory in its basement is now the location of TUNL's Laboratory for Experimental Nuclear Astrophysics (LENA). Graduates since 1965 will recall the tandem accelerator laboratory is located behind the Physics Building, but those who graduated before 1990 may not recognize a newer larger building behind the tandem lab which houses a 250 MeV electron linac, a booster ring, and a main storage ring with a free-electron laser which together produce the beams for TUNL's High Intensity Gamma-Ray Source (HIGS).

The Friday afternoon talks will take place in Physics Building room 128 (near the front enterence) The Friday evening traditional barbecue will be held in the French Family Science Center (FFSC) atrium and the front patio. This location is easily accessible from the TUNL parking lot atop the tandem lab. Saturday morning and afternoon reunion sessions will be held in the large, adjacent lecture amphitheater in 2231 of FFSC. Box lunch on Saturday for the registered guests will be available in the FFSC atrium. The Saturday evening banquet will be held in Duke's Trent Semans Center for Health Education located about 5 minutes walk north of TUNL. Sunday burnch will take place on the 4th Floor, MDC Building, 307 West Main St., Durham. Shuttle service will be provided from the Hilton and Marriott Hotels. Free parking is available directly behind this building in a lot accessible from the Downtown Loop/Ramseur Street. Enter the rear door of the MDC Building and take the elevator on the right to the 4th Floor.

Campus parking for reunion attendees will be available at the LaSalle lot (behind TUNL), Circuit Drive lot (across the street from DFELL/HIGS), and few spots at the Bryan Center Parking deck (located just off Science Drive diagonally behind Duke Chapel). At these gated lots, attendents will be present to allow access for the TUNL50 guests. A convenient drop-off location for events on Friday, Saturday morning, and Saturday afternoon is behind the FFSC. Event venues are ADA accessible from this location. It can be reached by a driveway leading from Circuit Drive toward the FFSC. Very limited parking is available to us at the Trent Semans Center for the Saturday evening banquet. We would like to utilize these spaces for ADA access. Shuttle service will be available to all venues during the entire program between the hotels and TUNL building.
