HIGS . . .
The newest accelerator facility operated by TUNL is the HIGS at the Duke Free Electron Laser Laboratory (DFELL). The DFELL houses an accelerator based photon source in a 52,000 square-foot facility. There are two types of primary photon beams available at the DFELL: the HIGS with energies from 2 to 60 MeV and an optical beam with continuous tunable wavelength from IR to VUV. Both photon beam types are produced by an electron storage ring free electron laser (FEL) and its undulators.

Getting to TUNL
If you are arriving at the RDU International follow these directions:
--Take I-40 west to Durham Freeway-147, Exit onto Durham-147 (going north-west).
--On Durham-147 take the Hillandale Rd/Fulton St Exit.
--Make a left onto Fulton St and continue until you reach the Erwin Rd.
--Make a right onto Erwin road and continue until you reach the TowerView Road (3rd traffic light).
--Make a left onto TowerView Road and then make another left at the first stop light onto Science Dr.
--You should park in the Bryan Center parking Garage which is located on the right side just before the traffic circle.
--The TUNL Building is located on Science drive behind the Physics building.
