Web Sites of Interest

Links to web sites that might be helpful will be maintained on the TUNL web page at http://www.tunl.duke.edu/Local/Help/ . Some of the current links are outdated, but may still provide some useful information. Of particular interest may be the pine e-mail help available from the University of Washington (where the program was developed). A few other sites of interest are listed here:

• http://www.oit.duke.edu/docs/unix.html - The Office of Information Technology at Duke has an explanation of commonly used Unix commands. There is also a manual for Unix users on the University Academic Computing system (somewhat outdated unforunately). Note that while most of the general ideas will be applicable, some of the site-specific concepts may not.
• http://www.ee.surrey.ac.uk/Teaching/Unix/ - A Unix Tutorial for Beginners

Perhaps the best sources of information are the graduate students in your research group. Most will be fairly proficient with Unix and more than happy to help you. If you cannot find someone who can answer your question or you have problems with your account, e-mail problem@tunl.duke.edu so that someone on the systems staff can help you.
