The World of Stephen Lokitz
I would just like to warn everyone that this site is under construction. It has been neglected for 2 years and I
am now attempting to refresh it and make it live again. Check back often to see what improvements I have made.
Welcome one and all to the Grandest Show on Earth! (And if you want elephants and clowns, well, I can help you with the clowns, but the elephants...)
Well, it may not be the best page out there, but it might keep YOU entertained for a little while!
I am a first year graduate student working on my Ph.D in experimental nuclear physics. I attend
North Carolina State University where I take graduate classes and work as a
teaching and research assistant. I've only been here a year, but I have to say I've enjoyed it and would
recommend this school to anyone.
I got my bachelor's
degree at a small liberal
arts college in Jackson, Mississippi, named
Millsaps College. I double majored in Physics and
Mathematics. This is also a great school where I happened to meet my soon to be wife. That's right, I'll be
getting hitched on June 19. Pictures and other stuff will be here once I figure out this stupid Unix stuff.
Enough about School. Let me share with you some other cool stuff that you may or may not want to know.
Laboratories At Which I've Worked
The Triangle University Nuclear Lab
The first nuclear lab that ever hired me (amazingly, it is also the only one and if I manage to blow
something up, it may be the last one). I'm here now, and so far so good (what I mean is I don't glow yet).
This is my second summer here and I will be here full time once I pass our departmental qualifier. It's a neat
place to work and we sometimes get to do fun things like have picnics and have parties.
The Gulf Coast Research Lab
This is the marine science lab that I worked at for three summers. Lotsa cool stuff going on here. Sea Creatures, Seawater, and water plants.
Like I said, a lot of really
neat things can be learned here. Mr. David Burke was my boss here and he is a very learned man who does a great Mark Twain impression.
Sports Links That Everyone Should Use
The San Diego Chargers
The greatest football team in my lifetime (OK, just a little exaggeration, but they still have a lightning bolt for a mascot).
The San Diego Padres
The second best baseball franchise ever assembled (The first is of course the Arkansas Travelers, but that's a REALLY long story).
The Los Angeles Clippers
OK, no question here, these guys shouldn't even be considered a b-ball team, but they did play in San Diego for a while.
The St. Louis Blues
The Blues are my favorite hockey team that I can watch on TV. Being from the coast of Mississippi used to mean no hockey, BUT ...

Now the East Coast Hockey League has brought the
Mississippi Sea Wolves to the gulf coast. This other logo is for the Mobile Mysticks, our arch-rival and otherwise hack hockey team
who we tune up against for our better opponents.
And of course, no web page could be complete without a favorite NASCAR driver. This is Bill Elliott. He drives the number 94 McDonald's Ford
Thunderbird. He's a past champion, winner of The Winston Million, and been voted the most popular NASCAR driver for longer than I've been alive.
And better yet,
I even have a picture of his car.
I am a member of the
Mississippi Delta Chapter of
Sigma Alpha Epsilon. We are the largest national
fraternity in the country, so when we were nominated for the John O. Mosely Zeal Award in 1996 after only seven years in exsistence,
it was a very big award. It sure is nice to have all that hard work pay off with a little recognition although the things that we do, we do for their own
merit, and not so that we can win an award.

Other Links That Just Didn't Fit In Anywhere Else
The Discovery Channel A channel that will almost always capture your attention. You must be very, very
careful when surfing by this site. It will occupy you for hours.
UPS Just in case you need to track a package, or if you're really bored you can track other people's packages.
CIA Every page on the net should have a link to the spook page. Something about a conspiracy or two.
The Wall Street Journal I've never really been here, but I thought it would make me look worldly.
The San Diego Union Tribune How
could I not include my hometown newspaper.
The Why Files If you've ever asked why, then check this place out.
NASA I had to put the NASA link here too. I mean it's better than the ESA link.
The Space Shuttle If you want to check out the shuttles, look here.
The Mars Pathfinder Mission You should look here to see the first steps in putting a man on Mars.
The Hubble Space Telescope Institute Quite possibly the best site on the web. Great pictures and other info.
The United States Air Force Off we go, into the Wild Blue Wonder...
The United States Navy Anchors Aweigh ...
The United States Army Not quite as good as the other two, but what do you want from the
groundpounders
The United States Marine Corps Just here for Jack Ryan's sake.
Your Yastrologer Check here for your daily horoscope.
ESPN Sportszone The best sports site on the web. I spend quite a lot of time here.
NASCAR If you like car racing, and I do, you will check this site out.
The Online Baseball League of
America Check out this baseball simulation that I am a part of. Some how, I got ownership of the Giants. We're not so good right now, but I've only had them for two months, so check back often to see our progress.
Dilbert Online One of the funniest comic strips around.

I could not think of finishing without a tribute to the Imperial High Lord Emperor Zoltar, Ruler of the Legendary Immortals. The rest of you will know
him as Bart. Soon to be here will be a picture of Her Eminence, The Exaluted High Priestess Zorina . I think everyone else will know her as Suzy Q.
"the licker" Lokitz.
If this site provoked a response of any kind, feel free to let me know. In fact, I might even enjoy
a remark or two. But, a word of caution, if you flood me with your intelligent and well thought
out ideas, I will terminate the entire free world's access to this site. Thank-you for your support.
